In 2012, South Suburban PADS established the Country Club Hills Wellness Center (CCHWC)! 5 Years later, the CCHWC sustains 77 apartment units, providing permanent housing solutions, and wraparound services.
The Country Club Hills Wellness Center is the first permanent supportive housing site for homeless individuals and families that South Suburban PADS typically serves through its shelter network. The design by HED supports the programs key characteristics: compassion, hospitality, and dignity.
The facility is rich with community and life skills spaces such as a culinary career center with an adjacent community garden and computer classroom on the ground floor. A vegetable and herb garden, maintained by the residents, is used by the chefs-in-training in the culinary career center.
On Saturday, November 18th, coinciding with the National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, numerous supporter and partners gathered to celebrate 5 years of providing families, veterans and others with specials a place to call home.
