Data center on view.
MathWorks, a software development company, recently expanded their corporate campus. The project comprised several major renovations, including the fit-out of an existing building to provide a new disaster recovery data center, which HED was asked to design.
Prominently located beside the main visitor entrance, the data center required a high level of visual interest. Floor-to-ceiling glass offers views into the computer room, showcasing the company’s technology. The computer room features a theatrical lighting system, allowing MathWorks to stage lighting conditions during customer tours.
Energy efficiency was also a key design focus. In alignment with the company’s energy-saving agenda, we employed passive rear door heat exchangers on all IT cabinets and leveraged the 60° F water from the campus’ newly constructed chilled water plant.
