An uplifting focal point
Replacing the existing science and technology buildings, this academic complex sits on Santa Monica High School's (Samohi) North Campus to the west of the most recently completed ‘Innovation’ Building. Highly visible from Olympic Blvd. and the 10 Freeway, this multi-function building is comprised of five levels and over 280,000 SF of space. In collaboration with the Dean and students, HED worked collaboratively to brainstorm what they considered key characteristics and attributes of the Samohi community. With the help of language teachers at the school, these characteristics were translated into the multiple languages spoken by the diverse student body and displayed on a “Word Wall” for students and faculty to admire daily.
