A state-of-the-art forensics laboratory cracks the case.
A history of quality.
Designed to meet current state-of-the-art law enforcement forensic design criteria, including CODIS, NIBIN, and ASCLD/LAB compliance standards, the new Illinois State Police Forensic Laboratory joins the first laboratory system in history to be accredited for the quality of its services.
Drug chemistry, trace chemistry, forensic biology and latent prints are the laboratories’ primary areas of focus. To support these functions, receiving, handling, cataloging, evidence receipt and storage areas were also added to the program.
The 63,000 square foot facility houses approximately fifty staff, and features an instrument room, a shooting range, firearms storage, a scope room, on-site and in-building security systems and office space.
As part of our work, we also completed major site improvements for the facility, including parking, storm water detention, signage and landscaping. Full scope A/E services, along with programming and planning, were employed for the design and construction.
