Flexible thinking inspires an adaptable design.
The quickly-expanding senior housing market brings with it a unique set of challenges: navigating multiple senior housing jurisdictions and classifications. Adapting to the varied legal, market and environmental landscapes from region to region. And above all, continually striving to better meet the physical, mental and emotional needs of elderly residents and their family members.

Over the last several years, HED has partnered with CA Ventures to develop a series of senior residences across the country. A new market for CA Ventures, expansion into the senior housing sector represented both a tremendous opportunity—and a formidable learning curve.

Acting as a partner and trusted advisor, HED developed a flexible “kit of parts” design that seamlessly adapts to each location. Unlike a single, rigid prototype, this approach ensures design integrity, high technical quality and consistency from program to program—and has garnered consistently positive responses in the process.

Leveraging every facet of HED’s integrated practice, from architecture to interiors to engineering, our ongoing collaboration with CA Ventures is a true testament to partnership—and an opportunity to redefine the design and development of contemporary senior housing.
