In the spotlight.
A new performance center shines a light on regional arts.
A front row seat, Oceanside.
With the design and construction of Oceanside Unified School District’s (OUSD's) Performing Arts Center (PAC), HED established a new local landmark and created a focal point for regional performing arts.
Oceanside’s first civic arts center, the Performing Arts Center will serve both the local high school and the surrounding community. This dual-usage approach integrates academic programs and public performances and provides high school arts students opportunities to collaborate on professional productions.
Unanimously selected as the winner of an open design competition, the new facility's design is versatile and adaptable. Capitalizing on its location, the exterior elevation joins an ongoing conversation with two beloved historic landmarks: the Mission San Luis Rey, and the art deco City Hall. Inside, traditional proscenium stages and flexible spaces merge with informal, indoor/outdoor nodes.
A significant contribution to the city’s cultural offerings, the completed project is a tribute to the values and vision of all involved, and stands as a testament to Oceanside’s ongoing commitment to community, education and the arts.
