Planning the future.
Programming for a Career Education Complex considers future needs and growth.
Programming the Career Education programs for San Jose City college meant undertaking a multi-step approach to fully understand existing structures and accurately predict future needs. With collaboration and input by Brailsford & Dunlavey, HED assessed the current state of programs, recorded present and future programmatic needs, and evaluated facilities.
A modular space planning approach was developed to provide students with new opportunities to gather, study, work in teams, engage with faculty, and overall extend their time on campus. As a new social and educational focal point on campus, the Career Education Complex will also reinforce alumni connections and celebrate indoor-outdoor activity.
The “future-proof” plan incorporates the forethought to adapt gracefully to the school’s future needs. The flexible, high-performance Career Education Building will be a catalyst and innovation hub welcoming the broader San Jose and Silicon Valley community to collaborate, share, learn, and innovate with the campus.
