A workplace that fuels innovation
As a creator of communications and experiences for their clients, this certified women-owned business prides itself in empowering its people to fuel innovation for their clients. Using their motto of “Light a Fire” which derives from their company name, HED used fire as a metaphor for the design of their Chicago office. The space was laid out around a communal space or “hearth” featuring a central island, an organically shaped sofa and a large audiovisual display, akin to what you would have at home to bring your family and friends together. The design team took advantage of the exposed timber columns and ceilings to enhance the casual and relaxed atmosphere of the space where Kindle staff can ignite action and fuel change.

Taking influence from Kindle’s slogan of “Kin.Kind.Kindle”, the design team along with our EGD specialists developed a large burnt wood wall in the open office that provides brand support and relatability. The ideal of passion or “fire” that is at the core of the Kindle Brand further resonates throughout the space in the naming of the meeting spaces (Oxygen, Heat, Fuel) and a large illuminated three-dimensional logo in the open office. The finish palette features light tones of wood for the furniture and the flooring as well as calm blue accents to balance the heavy timber, red brick and warm
branded elements.
